Bass scales

Well, I got a hold of a bunch of scales, so I've been working my way through those. I've mainly been focused on the blues scales and improvising off of those. It's been pretty cool. I've also been trying to get into funk a little bit, but I'm having a little trouble finding "the groove". That, and the fact that my T-Bird isn't really meant to be a funk bass. It's more for rock. I'm looking into some new pickups for the P-Bass also. My friend told me to check out Dimarzio pickups, and they have a pickup that seems pretty awesome. The Dimarzio DP127 Split Ps.

Not only do they look awesome, they sound awesome as well. I plan to have my friend install them as well.

Yeah, that's all that's going on in the bass world. I go to school this Thursday, but that's nothing new. I wonder how it will be. I haven't seen any of my friends for 3 months, but I'm sure they remember me.

Yeah, peace out.

Hello Everyone

Well, I've finally gotten around to making a blog. Sure, I had one a while ago, but it strayed away from it's original purpose-blogging my journey as a bassist. So I decided to make another one.

Well, I guess I'd better start things off right. I am a bassist (you should know that now), and I currently own 2 basses.

An Epiphone Gothic T-Bird.

And a Squire P-Bass.

I have been playing for about a year and 3 months. Some of my main influences include Geddy Lee of Rush and John Campbell of Lamb Of God. I don't really have a certain genre that I like to play most, and I'm still trying to find my style. I'm currently in one band that my friend hired me for. It's nothing yet, but it's still fun to jam. I'm currently working on improvising off of the blues series of scales. It's pretty fun. I play several hours a day. When I'm not working or on the computer chatting, I'm playing.

Even though it's currently summer break where I am, that will all change in about 1 week when I go back to school. I'll be a sophomore at a high school. I am deeply involved in the drama program, and it is one of my greatest loves. Surprisingly, I am not involved in the school band. That is mainly for one reason. I get bored with the music that they force people to play. I might join the school band someday, but first I'd need a more "public friendly" bass than my T-Bird. =P

Well I think that's all that really needs to be said.

Oh, and I'm a metalhead. ;)
